Milton Caniff, creator of Terry & the Pirates and Steve Canyon, is born in Hillsboro, OH in 1907.

Archie Goodwin, writer and editor for multiple comic books, passes away in 1998.

Since this isn't a leap year, I'll point out now that representatives at DC Comics claim February 29 is Superman's birthday. Some also claim it is the birthday of both Captain Marvel and Little Orphan Annie.

Bill Everett, creator of Marvel Comics' Sub-Mariner, passes away at the age of 55 in 1973.
